Castleford based curtain makers are on the verge of doubling their staff numbers after enlisting the help of Business Doctor, Jeff Long.
The family-run firm which, two years ago employed just six people, are now on course to employ thirty, after taking on support from Jeff, which was part funded by the Manufacturing Growth programme.
Jeff has been instrumental in developing a new strategy at Nationwide Curtain Makers, switching the focus from retailing to manufacturing, while maintaining their absolute dedication to quality and, in doing so, the family-run company has been able to attract significant new manufacturing contracts.
The change in business model, brought on by the help and support of Business Doctors, has resulted in Nationwide Curtain Makers moving into a new 5,500 sq ft manufacturing facility, which is now producing high quality curtains and soft furnishings for Property Developers, hotels and care homes
70% of the companies manufacturing output is now destined for commercial customers, including Marks & Spencer, the DeVere Hotels chain and even a nuclear power station.
According to Nicola Boyd, MD of Nationwide Curtain Makers, the external expertise brought in by Jeff has been essential in helping them identify new opportunities for their business and help to develop the management skills to manage the growth.
She said: “None of this would have been possible without the support from Business Doctors. They helped to develop the management skills and infrastructure needed to deliver the necessary changes in our business.”
Business Doctor, Jeff Long says, “Its amazing how much potential you can unlock within a business when the Directors are prepared bring in external support and advice and, most importantly, being open to implementing such a transformational change.”
