General Manager required for high growth specialist construction firm (Southampton- based)

  1. 1.             KEY PURPOSE

 

  • This key role will support the Directors in the delivery of the next phase of growth and will be a pivotal member of the senior management team.

 

The role will include:

  • Delivering improved and enhanced business processes and management methods.
  • Freeing up the current Directors to focus more clearly on the Growth Plan.
  • Bringing cohesion and consistency to management of staff and suppliers throughout the business.
  • To be successful this will result in an increased pipeline measure, increased margin and productivity-

         

  1. 2.             MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Day to day co-ordination of workflow and scheduling for the Project teams on site.
  • Providing management information to support the Directors of the business.
  • Ensuring that a well understood, consistent and fair performance management system functions in the business.
  • Agreeing main KPI’s for the business, analysing their progress and reporting this to Directors.
  • Keeping tabs on the sales process and ensuring that the resultant workflow can be adequately resourced.
  • Monitoring and improving areas for margin enhancement
  • Conduct a review of policies and procedures for the business and implement changes.
  • Chair weekly management meetings for the business.

 

 

  1. 3.             PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

  • A minimum of three years General Management experience. With teams of 6+
  • A good fit with the company values Positivity, Honesty, Systemic, Faith in yourself and family business.
  • Proven project management skills ideally but not necessarily in a design and build function
  • Skilled at leading teams, able to enthuse and bring people on board.
  • A track record of producing improved productivity through process or system enhancements.
  • Commercial acumen- Deep understanding of supply and sell side contract and commercial risk apportionment and negotiating, pricing and margin management.
  • Comfortable dealing with customers – has experience of a variety of customer sectors and types.
  • Action orientated an implementer not a theorist.
  • Has held company wide or divisional P&L responsibility
